Meet Amanda
Amanda Twomley, M.Ed.
Pre-Licensed Counselor
(She/Her)
Hi! I’m Amanda, a pre-licensed counselor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I’m drawn to working with people struggling with mental and emotional burnout because I’ve been there myself.
I started my career as a nurse. I enjoyed helping others at their most vulnerable, but the work felt rushed, and I couldn’t connect with patients in the way I knew was important. While I was dedicating my time and energy to care for my patients, I was also struggling to get support for myself. I didn’t really know what to ask for or how, and when I did, I often felt misunderstood and unheard. The exhaustion continued to compound with the responsibilities of work, marriage, and parenting. I felt alone in my shame, anxiety, and uncertainty, and I felt a social pressure to act cheerful despite what was going on underneath. I began to lose trust in myself and those meant to help.
A vital part of overcoming burnout was gaining the ability to define my values and attune to my own needs. Over time, I learned how to balance self-compassion with accountability. Where I had once put others first and judged myself harshly, I became more capable of extending grace to myself and prioritizing my well-being. I chose to transition from nursing to counseling so that I could develop deeper relationships with those I work with and serve as a guide on their journey from burnout to a values-aligned life.
It takes time to restore an overwhelmed mind running on empty. Let’s team up to cultivate insight, identify lifestyle changes, and implement practical mental health tools to help you rebuild hope and design a life that feels meaningful for you.
When I’m not working as a therapist, I can be found snuggled up with one of my pets, reading a book, playing a board game with my kids, or hiking a local trail with my husband.
